NOMINATING COMMITTEE

At the October meeting we will vote on the slate of officers for the coming year President  Sally Acomb, Vice President Flo Meridith, Secretary Dawn Dennis, Treasurer Cheryl Jordan submitted by Janet Wilhelm, Roberta Beckhorn, and Gail Holmes

Lovely weather we’re having so Ann Hawkins and I took advantage of the sunshine to further explore storage options. In keeping with the decision made at the September 2014 meeting regarding storage of quilt show materials, Lake to Lake Quilt Guild now has a contract with a storage facility along Route 96. The monthly fee for this unit is $45/month – this represents a nice savings as we had originally estimated and approved a fee of $75/month.

This permits the quilt racks, totes and signage to be safely placed in a single space that is convenient to the Phelps Community Center. It also relieves any individual member from the responsibility of storage and/or providing access; and the guild of responsibility for any incidental damage to a member’s home. At some time over the next several months it would be to the guild’s advantage to establish a list of the storage unit contents and to make note of what, if any, repairs of quilt racks are necessary.

Looking forward to our October meeting,
Val

Hello to all,
I am envious as I will be attending a family wedding in October in lieu of our meeting. Even though it is out of country in the Dominican Republic, I think I would rather be at your meeting! I so wanted to attend Karen's class.
I am sending the By-Law proposals for you to read and comment on. Please email me at:salakom@icloud.com with ANYTHING!

I have written a note as a forward to the proposals as to why this is necessary at all. I know you are as tired of them as I am. But, we soldier on......
Thanks, Sally A.

Click here for the By-Laws we have already agreed and voted upon. Where appropriate, I have stated the date they were amended. Some we passed without change. Sally

AFTER LUNCH PROGRAM - Gail Williams

In September one of our members gave each of us a strip of yellow. This member was not signed up for this round of exchanges. I think it would be nice of us to each bring in one strip which we could give back to her. It does not have to be yellow. It could be any color of a 2 1/2 inch strip of batik. Just put it on the table where the bags are and I will see she gets them.

All fabric should be washed and pressed prior to cutting the strips. You will need to have (21) twenty-one 2 1/2" strips. This will require approximately one and one-half yards of fabric. I usually get two yards and have a little extra for my own use.

October is purple. Light or dark or a combination.

If you cannot bring your strips to the meeting, please arrange to have someone else bring them. If that doesn't work, be sure to bring them to the next meeting.

The following will be the selections for each month:
September - Yellow
October - Light to Dark Purple
November - Any shade of bright green
December - Pebbles and Sand Colors
January - Aqua or Blue
February - Any Color with contrasting bright markings

If you should have any questions, please don't hesitate to get me a call or send an email to quiltingmona@rochester.rr.com

This past month I was thrilled and excited by the response of our guild to do up the kits I brought. I am sure there will be several for Show and Tell. I would like to put together several Winter themed Kits to be finished in time for our December and January meetings so as to be available for the winter babies. Any UFO's of a winter theme, fat quarters, bindings, and or a backing 45 to 48 inches long by width of fabric. Schedule permitting I will put these kits together before the Nov meeting or will stay after the Nov meeting. I am so thankful for the many hands to lighten the load and bless the babies. See you in October.
